A new weekly group offering mutual
friendship and support, the opportunity to meditate in a group
(beginners welcome) and the chance to learn and discuss
something inspiring to take into your life. These meetings
are a regular opportunity for people to come together,
share something about themselves, gain and give friendship and support, meditate
(or sit quietly), reflect, and
discuss something new which will hopefully add inspiration to
their lives. More information
Meetings are held in Wicken
Village Hall. Wicken is mid-way between Newmarket, Ely and
Cambridge, and the hall is located between Chapel Lane and Pond
Green to the rear of the grass adjacent to the main road through
the village. There is ample parking. Multimap

More
information:
Today's society and
lifestyle does not enable some people to be a part of a
community outside of work or family. It can be very rewarding
and empowering to have a forum within which to share, to
simply be with others, and to perhaps see life
from a slightly different perspective. These groups are intended
to fill this deficit.
The meetings are not intended
as therapy, or as any particular brand of spiritual teaching - although they may be experienced as therapeutic and may well
include some spiritual discussion!
Meetings will last 75 minutes
(one and a quarter hours) and will take place after Dragon
and Tiger Chi Kung classes, but are open to anyone, whether
they participate in the Chi Kung or not.
This is a new venture, so the format may evolve with time according to the needs and
wishes of those attending, but I anticipate something like the
following:
- Coffee and tea (both
caffeinated/decaffeinated coffee, and both English tea and green/herbal/fruit varieties) will be
available during the half hour between the end of Chi Kung
and the start of the group (no extra charge). If you
would like to bring biscuits or cakes to share, you are very
welcome!
- Introduction
- Sharing: each person
will be invited to talk about whatever they'd like to share.
There is also no obligation to share anything at all if you
don't want to! We may use a more structured way of
sharing, rather than just free-form.
- Meditation or silent
sitting If guidance on meditation is requested I am
happy to offer it, and can also lead guided meditations (or
bring recorded ones by various teachers). No prior
experience is required. Meditation will take
place sitting in chairs (you might find it useful to bring a
cushion for support).
- Reflection: if anyone
would like to say something about their experience of
sitting, there is an opportunity to do so. Some people
may enjoy it; others may find it a bit challenging. There is
no right or wrong way!
- New material: I will
prepare and bring one or more poems, book extracts, audio
recordings or other content to share with the group and
discuss. If you have something you would like to contribute
in this spot, or would like to request any particular type of content,
please contact me in advance.
- Close of meeting and goodbyes.
Participants are asked to
respect the confidentiality of anything shared by other group
members in these meetings, and not to pass on personal
information outside of the group.
You are also asked to be
respectful of others feelings.
