What professional organisations
do you belong to?
I'm a member of the Association
of Holistic Biodynamic Massage Therapists (AHBMT). This
means that I'm required to be in regular supervision, to
participate in a certain amount of development work, to have relevant
insurance and to adhere to a code of ethics.
What
trainings have you done?
A full list of the trainings I have participated in is listed on
my CPD page. I have a certificate in biodynamic massage, I
have completed a counselling skills course, and I hold an NLP
practitioner certificate. I am currently completing full, three
year professionals trainings in Hakomi and Somatic Experiencing.
Do I have
to undress?
Biodynamic massage does not use oils or talc and can be carried
out with the client fully clothed; sometimes I may actually ask
you to remain clothed because the technique I wish to use is
more effective that way. If you enjoy skin contact then you are
welcome to remove your clothes but you should retain your
underwear.
Do you go
through a particular routine in each session?
No - other than that initially there is generally some
verbal exchange between us, then some massage (which may or may
not include talking), and finally some more verbal interaction.
Otherwise, each session is entirely different. Biodynamic
massage includes around 15 different techniques or strokes which
are coordinated in a way suited to the client in each and every
moment. If there is something particular that you really want to
talk through, or if for some reason you don't want to receive
touch that session, we can just talk.
Can I
just come for an occasional massage because I enjoy it?
Yes, of course!
Do you do
evening or weekend sessions?
Yes! I offer evening appointments on weekdays, usually at 5pm
and/or 6:30pm (depending on the day) and never starting later
than 8pm. I
sometimes offer weekend
sessions but only as one-off or occasional appointments.
I can't
afford it, do you offer concessionary fees?
At any one time I can offer a limited number of clients reduced
cost sessions, yes.
Is it
suitable for all ages?
Yes, there are very few contraindications, although anyone who
is 16 or under has to be accompanied by an adult parent or
guardian.
What's
your cancellation policy?
If you cancel on the day of, or the day before, a session
then you may be liable to a cancellation fee. If it is possible
to reschedule the session for a different time during the next
few days, I'd prefer to do that.
